Use of Term "Redskin"

Does anyone have or know of any linguistic or other
articles tracing the history and derogatory nature of the
terms "redskin" or "redskins." We are fully aware of
peoples feelings about them, but are looking for actual
scholarship on use and derivation when applied to Indians.
