Alice Kehoe discusses both claims concerning Sequoyah and
the likelihood of each holding a part of the truth in her
text that always seems to have the answers to everything (almost
everything that is--anybody know the literal translation of
"Algonkian" or "Algonquin" and is this the name by which
the Algonquin tribe have always call themselves...?).
I digress:
Alice Kehoe. North American Indians. Prentice-Hall, 1981, pp.184-85.
Now if anyone can answer the Algonquin question, I'd be so
grateful.
