Greetings from Asu
I am the Council Chief of the Native American Council of ASU. I am
searching for corospondants across the realm, in hopes to form friendships and
ties with other peoples. I myself am 1/8th Native American. My ancestory
comes from my great grandfather who was half Camanche, and half Apache. His
wife was half Cherokee, and half Creek. The mixture of these tribes is the
result of who I am today, and what my children will be tommorow. Our Council
is planning our 2nd Pow Wow for the year of 1993. Any and all suggestions will
be completely appreciated, and all introductions to events concerning Native
Americans will be appreciated as well. This council is open to all people that
have an interest in Native American culture, crafts, and with open minds to
accept the religious beliefs of the peoples and hold understanding, and
respect. As we progress, I will post all upcoming events concerning our
council, in hopes that you can attend both meetings, and our Pow Wow in '93.
Our meetings as it stands, are every Thursday @ 7:00 pm in Sanford Hall in room
208, on the Appalachian State University campus. All are welcome to join, and
become a part of the council, and I encourage all to do so. We also sponsor
guest speakers to talk and give presentations here on campus. Just last week,
Dr. Dee Boyer from the Lakota (Sioux) Oglala tribe, came to Boone to talk about
the Black Hills Land Claim. We plan to have more speakers as we go along. In
accordance to the speakers, I plan for this council to become active in Native
affairs; and the Black Hills Land Claim is to be our first. If you are
intersted, or would like more information, please write me at Po Box 6218 Boone
N.C. 28608; it would be great to hear from you. Thank you for your time in
reading, and may the Great Spirit always be with you on your path through this
life.

Sincerely,
Ivy Bear Nov. 4, 1992
