Today's (11/25/92) New York Times has a front page article entitled
"U.S. WOULD GRANT TRIBE HUGE TRACT 400,000 -Acre Transfer Meant
to End Hopi-Navajo Feud"
It says the proposal requires the approval of Congress.
"The Bureau of Land Management would contribute 8,000 acres, 165,000
acres would come from state-owned land and 35,000 acres would be
bought from private ranchers."
"A memorandum from F.Dale Robertson, the chief of the Forest Service,
warned that "this precedent will have far-reaching implications concerning
scores of other Indian claims against the U.S."
