The rez is 20 miles south of sioux city.
The project is one of many that the tribe is doing in putting their
traditional culture with modern Indian lifeways.

The tribe is very agressive in reclaiming its culture. In the last couple
of years they have received their religious and cultural collections back
from the Peabody Museum. They supported the book Indian Doctor that is
about Susan LaFlesh who was the first Indian woman doctor. She worked on
the rez in the late 1800's. It is a book worth reading.
Look for more projects from this tribe. For those going to the applied
anthro meetings in San Antineo there will be a presentation on the diabetes
project going on there.
