You might want to order a copy of <POW WOW 1993 CALENDAR: Guide to North
American Powwows and Gatherings USA & Canada> compiled by Liz Campbell,
published by The Book Publishing Company, P.O. Box 99, Summertown, TN
38483, phone (615) 964-3571. You can ask for Anna Casini. As well as
providing dates of Pow Wows, the book provides a bit of information
about the dances and dress, and also has ads for Native American
vendors. There is another number 1-800-695-2241. The book costs $6.95,
is 96 pages, and its numbers are ISSN 1059-4965, ISBN 0-913990-99-X.
My favorite Pow Wow is the United Tribes International Championship
Pow Wow held at the United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, ND
in September (10-12 for 1993). They have a Native American Art Show
which features incredible talent, and the Miss Indian Nations contest.
