This follows up the previous mysterious (and mistakenly transmitted)
message about the 20th anniversary of the occupation at Wounded Knee. I
spoke this morning with Bruce Ellison and Melvin Lee, both encouraged me
to post this information. When more info is available, I'll submit it
for posting. The Sunday forum will be covered by the Lakota radio
station, for those in the listening area.

Wounded Knee Occupation
20th Anniversary
Commemoration & Conference
February 26-28, 1993

Twenty years ago, the American Indian Movement occupied federal
buildings at Wounded Knee. This action marked a new phase in
resistance to the genocide of native Americans. It also provoked
a terrorist response orchestrated by the United States government
rarely matched in recent American history.

Hundreds of people participated in or supported the action.
Twenty years later, participants and supporters are gathering
again to commemorate the event and to review its implications for
today's movement.

Friday, February 26
-- Wounded Knee Legal Defense/Offense Committee (WKLDOC), legal
teams and supporters reunion at the Alex Johnson Hotel, Rapid
City.

Saturday, February 27
-- Annual Four Directions Walk to Wounded Knee. Starts around
10 AM.
-- Afternoon following walk, services at Wounded Knee grave
site.
-- Beginning 5 PM, social event (feast and talking) at the Day
School, Manderson.
-- Evening pow-wow

Sunday, February 28
