Chief Wayandaga was born on January 15, 1920, in Shickshinney, PA. He was
the Supreme Chief (Tallak) of the Eastern Delaware Nations. Wayandaga was a
direct descent of the Sachem Wi-daag, who signed the first treaty with
William Penn.

and also helped liberate the Auschwitz Concentration Camp. He recieved the

President of the United American Indians of the Delaware Valley in
Philadelphia for many years, serving the Native American community in
Pennsylvania and New Jersey as a traditional Nanicoke medicine man.
His last message was "That all people, Red, yellow, black and white are
welcome to learn the ways of his ancestors."
A traditional Algonquin funeral ceremony was performed at the Eastern
Delaware Nation Sanctuary, Box 1143, McCarty Ridge Road, Lincoln Falls,
Sullivan County, PA., by Slow Turtle, Medicine Man of the Mashpee-Wampanoag
