Gary mentioned that the University of New Mexico has an on-line
database concerning Latin America. It is called the Latin American
DataBase, and can be reached by telneting to technet.nm.org.
LADB features some 20,000 current articles on Latin America, and an
excellent, fast searching capability.
It is, however, not free. For information on a temporary demo account
contact Roma Arellano at <ladbad@unmb.unm.edu>
He was most helpful in getting a demo account set up for me.
It would be a good idea to explain what you need to find information
on. Perhaps you should express the fact that you can find nothing
useful anywhere else.
ALso, and this is in your neighborhood, the University of Miami
maintains INFO-SOUTH, a database which is affiliated with LADB - I
understand that it is as good. Network access is available by
telneting to host sabio.ir.miami.edu , but this too costs money.
Contact msgctr@sabio.ir.miami.edu, or call (305)284-5089. Perhaps you
could get a demo account there, or even pay them a visit if you're
close enough.
Hope this is helpful.
