To whomever it was who asked about Indians and alternative health care, you
should check out this week's Time Magazine. There is a story in it about
Dr. Joe Jacobs, who was just appointed to undertake studies of alternative
health care for the National Institute of Health (NIH). There was also an
article about him in the New York Times recently, but I don't remember what
day. I think it was in January. Anyway, Dr. Joe Jacobs will be speaking at
Yale University, New Haven, CT, on April 24, 1993. He wil be a panelist in
a conference to be held that weekend (April 23-24, 1993) on Yale campus.
The weekend is called the Spirit of Unity Gathering, and will also feature
a dance exhibition/powwow. Other speakers: Norbert Hill, Executive Director
of AISES, Kenneth Attocknie, Director of American Indians for Development,
Mary Eileen Woods, head of Amnesty International's Indigenous Peoples Campaign,
Gabrielle Tayac, Ph.D. candidate at Harvard University, Eugene Linden, senior
writer for Time Magazine, and others.
You will see more info about this event as it draws closer.
