The following announcement is excerpted and paraphrased from an item in
_Library_Journal_, February 15, 1993.

NATIVE AMERICANS TO STAR

Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. will launch a multimedia event this fall
entitled _The_Native_American:_Behind_the_Legends,_Beyond_the_Myths_. At a
cost of 30-40 million dollars, this series will include a documentary,
original TV films, a book, and a series of special news reports.

TBS will air a six-hour, three-part documentary in November, _The_Native_
Americans_, featuring contributors like N. Scott Momaday, Linda Hogan, and
other writers and historians. It will trace the history of the first Ameri-
cans.

TNT will show a series of two-hour films on historical events from the
American Revolution to the present, beginning in October with _The_Broken_
Chain_, which stars Graham Greene and Wes Studi.

Turner Publishing will publish an illustrated book in September which explores
five major periods in Native American history. The title is _The_Native_
Americans:_Indian_Country, and the price tag is $50.

Sometime in November, CNN Special Reports will explore contemporary issues in
a 20-part daily series, including weekend specials, entitled _The_Invisible
_People_.
