MINORITY LIBRARIAN INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
AT
THE UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO LIBRARIES

As part of a continuing commitment to the promotion of racial diversity,
the Libraries of the University at Buffalo (UB) are pleased to announce a
search for (1) a VISITING MINORITY LIBRARIAN in the UB Undergraduate Library
and (2) a MINORITY GRADUATE FELLOW who will pursue a Master's degree in Library
Science (M.L.S.) at the UB School of Information and Library Studies. The
program is designed to encourage African Americans, Latinos, and Native
American Indians to enter the profession of academic librarianship and to
participate in a challenging training and career opportunity.

VISITING MINORITY LIBRARIAN

The University Libraries are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic African
American, Latino, or Native American Indian candidate who is a recent
recipient of the M.L.S. degree. The successful candidate will have excellent
communication and interpersonal skills and an interest in working with a team
of librarians providing reference and instructional services to a large,
diverse undergraduate population. The Visiting Minority Librarian will
work as a partner to develop special services for underrepresented
populations. The Internship provides:

*** a two-year faculty appointment at the rank of Visiting
Assistant Librarian;
*** competitive salary;
*** travel funds to support attendance at conferences, workshops,
and professinal meetings;
*** private office equipped with personal computer, Internet
connection, and telephone;
*** full benefits package.

MINORITY GRADUATE FELLOW

The State University of New York Underrepresented Minority Graduate
Fellowship will be awarded to an academically superior African American,
Latino, or Native American Indian student who will receive a full tuition
scholarship and a $7,500 stipend to attend the UB School of Information
and Library Studies. Upon successful completion of the one-year Master's
Program, the Fellow will receive a two-year appointment as Visiting Minority
Librarian in the Undergraduate Library as described above.

statement of interest in academic librarianship and the internship program;
transcripts; and resume, including the names of at least three references
