I am working on a paper on the "captivity narrative" of John Marrant, a
free black man who lived in the south. I am having some trouble finding
information on captivity narratives--I know that there has been a lot
written on this topic lately, so I am sure that my problem is not knowing
how to access the information (not knowing the right subject heading to
enter into the library computer). That sounds silly, but I've tried every
logical heading I can think of, and I'm coming up with nothing. I would
appreciate help either in the form of actual references, or in the form of
the correct subject headings to try under. (I am aware of the VanDerBeets
book <Held Captive By Indians> and the chapter in Henry Louis Gates' book
<the Signifying Monkey> which discusses Marrant, but ANY other references,
either to Marrant in particular, or to captivity narratives in general--or
references to interaction and relationships between African-Americans and
Native Americans--would be GREAT).
Thanks in advance!
