I'm teaching a college course on "American Cultural Diversity"
using a series of community studies as texts and films - feature
films when good ones are available - to expose my mostly white,
midwestern students to other American's ways of life. For the
part of the course on Indians, I'm having them read _Modern
Blackfeet: Montanans on a Reservation_ by Malcom McFee, because
even though it's old and completely ignores women, it combats
stereotypes by focusing on the different ways of life Blackfeet
lead. Now, my questions:
Does anyone on the net know of any recent articles on the
Blackfeet on the Browning, Montana reservation, or have any
comments about McFee's book or what the Blackfeet think of it?
Can anyone suggest films - feature films or documentaries - that
give realistic portrayals of Indians today?
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
