Mr Keating! Good news for you. The eternal relationship
between First Peoples and their living countries is not
extinguished by the faulty European acts. It endures the worst
levels of abuse from direct attack by mounted armed men to
indirect subjection by heartless laws and constitutions.
It has survived throughout the land. The challenge to Anglo-
Australia is to find one place where First People have
completely disappeared - and that place will be a fitting
place for a memorial to the war against life which your people
have conducted in this country.
You can take advantage of the crack in the false consciousness
of the last two hundred years provided by the Mabo decision. A
fingernail edge - a rare opportunity. You can link Mabo to the
wider reconciliation issue. There are not two classes of First
People - but the judges of the High Court seem to think there
is.
The Judges seemed to think that the relationship between First
Peoples and their living countries is the sort of thing which
can be real when it suits European commercial interests but
not really real when it doesn't. First People were subject to
Anglo-Australian genocide because those in authority treated
their rights as unreal. WRONG!
"Native title" the judges called the relationship between
First Peoples and their living countries. It is not a form of
title like something in the real estate world. Do children
have title to their parents?
The relationship is a covenant between Peoples and the Higher
Being. It comes from a higher authority - Life itself. This is
why it remains untouched by death - for life is a cycle. First
Peoples will always return to claim what is theirs. They will
not be cheated.
Those who have suffered the most will not say "Ah, we have not
been recognised as First People - lets lie down and forget
about it." No, life is not like that. Recognition is as
necessary as air to breath.
Recognition for what you are is a fundamental driving force in
life. It drove you to aspire to be Prime Minister. Will it
carry you into the overdrive of Statesmanship?
Now is the moment upon which it turns - now when you must use
your judgement to deal with the unknown placed before you. And
what a challenge it is! It is not a challenge which faces
leaders in other places - you may look long and hard for
precedent elsewhere, but this is a novel situation.
The choice for your government is whether or not to accept the
truth that 'native title' survives everywhere - and to enter
into a sensible partnership with First Peoples.
Not to accept that truth is to opt for increasing disorder.
Look around you at the growing disorder produced by the
forceful imposition of disrespectful European ways in this
Eastern holy place.
And see how the over-inflated Australian image shrinks!
Faster than a plastic wrapper in the fire. The fire is real
life. It will take more than imitation cowboy ambassadors to
convince our Asian neighbours that all is well with Anglo-
Australians as members of the neighbourhood.
In Asia as here, life has recovered from the impact of the
savage blow of the flood of disrespectful and displaced people
from Europe. Wrongheaded people. Our Eastern family do not
need to be told about the ways of these people who (blind to
havoc) insist that they have a monopoly on life's
adminstration.
Life governs itself in this country by the flow of messages
along global songlines. You can forget that divide and rule
stuff about 'tribes and boundaries'. One whole people provide
one whole network for the complete body provided by the whole
ecosystem.
First People provided the ecosystem's neural network for these
transcontinental (and beyond) messages.
The Wrongheaded people, understanding nothing but proclaiming
their superior understanding, dismissed the flow of messages
as nonsense. Not understanding the high language used by the
land priests, your experts dismissed the flow of the thoughts
of the Greater Being as the bizarre rituals of stone age
savages. AS if material objects were any measure of life's
achievement.
The flow of life's messages has been disrupted - knocked off
balance. But balance is being regained as surely as the planet
turns.
Life is of a far higher order of complexity than that traced
by looking at narrowly defined material objects. To understand
even these objects you must understand the forces which
generated them - you must understand their place, their
Dreaming. Your science-priests do not understand. Your
economists have a tunnel vision which is truly frightening in
those who aspire to drive the vehicle of the community of
life.
The complex arrangements of life are not to be read in bones
and shards of pottery. Life has been into micro circuitry from
the outset.
Life is an energy like an electric current. A planetary
corona. Life Crowns the planet Earth - the centre of Being.
You will not read in dead things of how, once, all life was
related - whole. And how we all were one, and at one with our
world. Our Being in touch with our Cosmos - as only befits the
cosmic miracle of life.
But we live in a cosmic drama and a great disaster befell us -
and robbed some of us of universal understanding. There will
be a lesson in it. We learn at great cost.
Slowly, life has been healing itself. Slowly, we have been
moving back towards the level of understanding - of Being -
for which we all ache.
Australia's First People have kept the truth alive. Their
lives provide the keys to this pan-global reunification.
Their lives are the gift of the Higher Being to all life. And
Australia is the chosen place.
At this time of increasing destructive conflict - the legacy
of eons of wrong way living - life has provided a whole family
and not merely an individual son as a key to the Way.
And the wise members of the family tell us that the answer
lies within. Stretch and grow.
The act of embracing Australia's First People is an act of
reclaiming our true inheritance.
We require from you a marriage of interests in place of the
habitual rape of the last two centuries.
Some, who believe they benefit by blocking the great healing
process underway, attempt to have us see the recognition of
First People as an end and not a reunion. These people are
blind - suffering from the curse which goes with worshipping
golden idols.
Their way has no hope. They cling to the dark ages of
ignorance, and destroy what they do not understand. They, our
misguided brothers and sisters, are no-hopers.
You are the leader of Anglo-Australia: which way do you chose
- the no-hoper way or the way of hope?
Mr Morgan is right. It is the end of the nation. That nation
was founded on genocide. Mr Hewson/Howard needs to be told
that "Yes, it is broken and needs fixing."
And the farmers, the ground slipping beneath their feet,
desperately need to enter in partnership with the country's
timeless life managers. There is much healing to be achieved.
And Mr Everyday Anglo-Australian needs to be told this does
reach into their lives - into their backyard barbies - it
touches all of us. They all benefit - day in day out - by the
flow of wealth expropriated from the living countries of First
Peoples. What grassland did that steak come from? And from
what Dreaming orebody their wages to pay mortgages.
But time is up for the old ways. Ordinary people, frightened
of doing the wrong thing, look for a message from authority
that it is OK to embrace our closest neighbours - First
Peoples right here amongst us. You are in the Prime position.
Hearts and minds - lives - need to be opened to new
possibilities. Scrap the obsolete stereotypes of Australia as
Europe and of tea towel Aboriginals - and develop a working
relationship with First Peoples and their living countries.
Well, Judgement day was 3 June 1992. Mabo day. The doctrine of
terra nullius was scrapped. The reform of European life is now
underway. The global consequences of these events in Australia
may well out-weigh the effects of those 2000 years ago.
