Hi, I'll look into this. I'm adopted (at the age of 2 yrs 4mnths) and there
was no problem until we decided to put me on the Oneida tribal roll. That took
a 9 month court case--opening adoption records & all. It turned out that I'm
almost as much Menominee. I'm a firm believer that adoptive parents ought to
at least be able to know the medical history of the child they adopt. Parenting
is difficult enough as is, without that sort of handicap. My guess is that you
needn't worry, but I'll check on it for you. (I'm in D.C., so it ought to be
a few phone calls).
An aside: "only to those residing on Indian lands." Does that mean the entire
New World?
I'll get back to you soon...
Steve Smith
