CLIFFORD DANN UPDATE
Clifford Dann has been moved from the Washoe Detention Facility in
Reno, NV to the Federal Correctional Institute in Lompoc, CA. This
increased distance puts a heavy strain on family visits.
Corbin Harney, Western Shoshone spiritual leader, has made
arrangements to visit Clifford on September 10th. Supporters are asked
to attend a 24 hour vigil outside the prison. For details contact:
Richard Chauvaux @ 805-927-5923. Corbin Harney has been told that he
has only 7 minutes to visit with Clifford. During that interval 2
guards will be present and both Corbin and Clifford are not permitted
to speak their Shoshone Language - even for religious reasons.
Currently Clifford waits for the U.S. Supreme Court to review his
appeal through September 27-29. There the court will decide the
question of who has jurisdiction in this case; the Western Shoshone or
the United States.
Letters of support to Clifford should be sent c/o WSDP. Letters should
be sent to Attorney General Janet Reno (the Justice Dept, Washington
D.C. 20500) on Clifford's behalf urging her to look into this matter.
