Could anyone give me a synopsis of the legend/explanation of the
Dream Catcher? I have heard a few variations, and I am interested in the
origin of this piece of native culture.

The reason for this question is twofold: 1)I have a Dream Catcher -
bought it in Northern Ontario, because 2)the Dream Catcher has become a
recognizable sign of the hopes for increased understanding of native issues
among the youth of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada.

Before I get flamed for being another "bored Anglo" putting my nose
where it isn't wanted by Native Canadians - the Dream Catcher was introduced
to us by members of the Cree First Nation(is this the proper way to refer to
them?) who are very spiritual, and very reverent towards their native
culture and Christianity as well. I am seeking to understand native culture
and religion - not infiltrate it, or steal it for mercenary purposes.

I thank you for any response I may get. You may e-mail me if you
wish.
