help wanted email account

A friend of mine in the Fort Worth area (Texas) is desperately looking for an
email account because he desperately wants to subscribe to the NativeNet
mailing lists and/or S.C.N. He isn't a student nor is employed at an
university. Is there anybody out there who can help him, through me at
aleida@yaupon.nl

Of course he prefers to be able to make local calls
(instead of calling to California (IGC?) which he's been informed about as
being a possibility for an email account but this is costing him a fortune and
he cannot afford such).
