InterTribal Bison Cooperative moves to Rapid City
(ICC) - The InterTribal Bison Cooperative (ITBC) has moved their
headquarters to Rapid City, South Dakota as of June, 1993. ITBC
relocated to the black Hills because the location is more central
to their member tribes and the Black Hills hold spiritual
significance to many Indian people.
The InterTribal Bison Cooperative is a non-profit 501-c3,
tribal organization. representing 25 tribes in 13 states.
The organization is committed to reestablishing buffalo herds
on Indian lands in a manner that promotes economic development,
cultural enhancement, ecological restoration and spiritual
revitalization. The organization is governed by a Board of
Directors comprised of one representative from each member tribe.
ITBC is funded through public and private grants and donations,
and welcomes contributions for the restoration of the buffalo.
