Nell Newton asked about books that may help her with scholarly treatment of
the appropriation of native images for commercial puposes.

Although I haven't read the book you could try Lynn Stephen's `Zapotec
Women'. It was mentioned on the Activ-l list recently and judging what the
person wrote about her book, it could be exactly what you're
looking for. All the Aciv-l postings are kept in the ecosys gopher, so if
you telnet ecosys.drdr.virginia.edu and login gopher, go to number 6
(communication) and then number 2 (Activ-l) you will see about 25-30 pages
of recent postings. I think Zapotec Women was posted around about September
23 so you should have no problem finding it. Good luck.

Cheers,

Stephen.
