One of the largest near here was Stuart Indian Boarding School, just south of
Carson City, Nevada. They have a "Reunion" PowWow every June, and the "Museum/
Gift Shop" has a lot of information information. Several acquaintances of mine
attended Stuart, as well as a very well known Wintu (or Maidu) singer who
plays at Acorn Festivals/Big Times throughout Northern California. You might
try writing to the Nevada State Museum at Carson City, Nevada, and asking them
for any information they have, or attending their annual PowWow in June, or
I can put you in touch in some of its Alumni (I won't include any names/
addresses at this time but I could give them your name, etc.. Actually, I
should have sent this to nn.general, in case there are alumni on the Net who
might want to add some information for you... I'll forward to them for inclu-
sion.
