A while back someone posted that the letter "p" is not used in many
native American languages found in continental U.S. (and speakers of those
languages may tend to use "m" in place of "p" in English words). For which
language groups is this true? Can anyone recommend some good texts giving
overview of native Amereican languages?

P.S. Many thanks to those who responded with words found in Native
American languages that cannot be expressed precisely in English.
I tried to send thanks directly, but my mailer (or my expertise) is
not up to it.
