The 92nd Annual Meeting of the American Anthropological Association will be
held at the Washington Hilton Hotel, Washington DC, beginning at noon Wednesday
Nov 17 and closing at mid-day Sunday, November 21.
The program will include hundreds of symposia and workshops involving
professional anthropologists, their community-based collaborators, students,
and research sponsors.
Of particular note is a plenary session scheduled for 8 pm Friday evening,
November 19, chaired by W. Richard West Jr., Director of the Smithsonian's
Museum of the American Indian. An item in the Association's September

Approaches to Understanding the Past." W Richard West, Jr.,

American Indian, will chair a panel of anthropologists and
Native Americans, some of whom are both representatives of
their tribe and professional members of the anthropological
community. On Friday, November 19 at 8:00 pm, the 9
panelists will explore how the goals of both the scientific
and Native American communities can be joined.
Listed in the preliminary program as organizers for this session are: Catherine
