UPDATE ON HUMAN RIGHTS BISHOP: FORCES GATHER IN MEXICO CITY.
While the Apostolic Nuncio's fax has mysteriously ceased to
function, the Cardinal Primate of Poland arrived in Mexico City on
Tuesday, 2nd November and was received not by the Cardinal of
Mexico City but rather by the Bishop of the neigbouring diocese.
In a press conference with both Bishops, the Polish Cardinal
talked about the importance of maintaining a stand against
communism and that the mission of the Church was to ensure that
Catholics observe catholic morality and not to stray beyond that.
Meanwhile the spokesperson for the Mexican Conference of Bishops,
Bishop Reynoso (and not Bishop Godinez as earlier reported.
Bishop Godinez is the Secretary of the Conference) said that
Bishop Samuel Ruiz did indeed have serious doctrinal errors.
The Bishops' conference is due to meet next week.
The daily, "La Jornada" reported that the National Network of
Priests in Mexico met recently and made a press release in which
they say that Bishop Prigione, the Papal Nuncio, has worked in
Mexico only to divide the Church, especially dividing the
hierarchy internally and from the people.
