The West Australian Government has unilaterally extinguished
the common law right of native title for surviving First
Peoples in that State. The Land (Titles and Traditional Usage)
Act, rushed through their Parliament, is offensive to the
life-spirit.
This action was taken by the State managers in the name of
protecting business and development.
A clear message needs to be sent to them, by people with
conscience, that the standover tactics of the West do not
work. We need to send our support in a language they
understand.
The solution is simple - Boycott West Australian goods and
services which are not produced with the blessing of First
Peoples until the Land (Titles and Traditional Usage) Act is
repealed and arrangements satisfactory to First Peoples are
negotiated without duress.
How to get this into practice is another thing, since we do
not know what West Australian produce and services have been
blessed.
As an interim measure can we assume, in the absence of other
evidence, that any West Australian produce has not been
produced in the right spirit?
We each chose - and in so doing create our world.
