Trudi Griffin-Pierce at U of Arizona has written My Mother the Earth, My
Father The Sky, which you might try. I'm writing this from memory so you
might have to rearrange the words. She has Eastern Indian ancestory but
lived as adopted daughter with the Navajo for some time, and was given
permission by the tribe to write, and also to lecture with slides (a very
good presentation which I saw at the UNM Maxwell Museum some time ago) as
she did not give-away secrets and was doing it for education. There is
another book by someone called, I think, Prezo, but of that I am less
certain. The bookstore at Albuquerque's Indian Pueblo Cultural Center has
several color books on sandpainting which must be available nationwide.
Look also under "drypainting" which is the correct term. Good luck.
