NATIONAL INDIAN POLICY CENTER

OFFICE MANAGER

Basic Responsibilities:

To direct and carry out office activities of a federally funded
grant and supervise clerical and student technical assistants.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Supervises a staff of clerical personnel necessary for the
day-to-day operation of the administrative office. Includes
preparation of fiscal accounting forms and other
correspondence that involves word processing, filing and
processing of appropriate paperwork, procurement requests, and
payment requests.

2. Responsible for preparing and implementing all travel
authorizations and payments for the Center's Planning
Committee members, Staff, Task Force, and regional meeting
participants.

3. Organizes and makes arrangements for all Center meetings.

4. Develops office procedures and implements methods for keeping
accurate program and correspondence records.

5. Arranges and authorizes office printing services, owned and
leased machine repairs, supplies, telephone, facsimile and
modem services.

6. Coordinates all responses to inquiries for written reports of
the center and for general information requests.

7. Supervises maintenance of mailing lists and sprint fax lists.

8. Receives, opens, and sorts incoming mail. Composes replies
which can be answered through a knowledge of precedents and
routine office functions.

Entry-Level Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree or the equivalent in experience and related
training.

Three to five years of experience in administrative, secretarial
and office management.

Skills in word processing.
