"Porque Chiapas ?", is a new book on the Chiapan conflict by Luis
Pazos, published by Ingramex Lithographic Workshops of Mexico
City. The book was already recieving heavy advertisement before
the last book was dry. Dedicated to the sudents of Tlatelolco
this book proposes sympathy for the "poor manipulated" indians of
Chiapas.

Luis Pazos writes that the whole conflict has been a collaboration
between Don Samuel Ruiz, a marxist who has been able to infiltrate
the Catholic hierarchy, and other leftists whose intent is to
violently sacrifice the indigenous people of Chiapas to further
their leftist cause. Pazos cites Mary Ball, a northamerican woman
married to a Mexican, as his source for determining who has funded
the arms for the Zapatista uprising. According to her source, a
Michael Algrin, there is an organization called the Catholic
Committee for Development with headquarters in Brussels which has
been managing "subversive" humanitarian aid projects throughout
latin america. The other group of catholic subversives are the
Maryknolls based in the United States, according to Pazos; in the
same paragraph as that postulation is his acknowledgement that he
has no proof, only presumptions

Ultimately, though, according to Luis Pazos, everyone involved at
the grassroots level have simply been the pawns of the PRD. Pazos
states that the whole thing has been aggravated by that party
because they have discovered that they could not win a true free
election.( Forget that Pazos has already written that the EZLN has
been in existence since 1973).

One note for northamericans; Pazos (who probably works for the
Secretaria de Gobernacion) mentions that when the Vatican tried to
remove Don Samuel Ruiz from his position in Chiapas recently, the
Vatican and the Mexican governement received thousands of letters
from the international community of lefties. Because of this
pressure, Don Samuel was successful in usurping the Catholic
hierarchy to continue his "marxist" activities.

I'd say Pazos is the one who plans to benefit from the conflict
with a book that pretends to be factual but is just a bunch of
mindless accusations.
