Regarding Indian Outlaw, my son & I heard something "new" Thursday
night on the way up a Mt. in northern California. The radio station
announced that "coming up next will be that highly controversial
Tim McGraw song "Indian Outlaw" ..... Since I've been unsuccessful
at recording the entire song at one sitting, I grabbed the tape
recorder which I NOW always have handy and hit record. Hmmmm, what's
this? They've edited out a good portion of it? Maybe I was mistaken.
So I backed up the recorder and played it back. No mistake. For
this particular show, at least, they had edited out the "traditional
music" portion of the song -- the "break" begins with a fiddle solo,
then goes to traditional "PowWow-type music & singing" and then goes
back to the song. VERY INTERESTING! At least if they are going to
play this "trash", remove the "cerremonial" break from it. We went
to sleep in the rain and cold with a smile on our faces. Alas, the
following day this same station played the whole damned thing, so
either the "edited" version was the sole property of that disc jockey,
or someone else called and complained about the editing.

I would really appreciate it if Jennifer could post the entire article
that was in the Washington Post, since many if not most of us do not
have access to this publication, several days after the fact.

Niin sa,
