HOW IT WORKS
VOCNET is an electronic mail distribution list run by LISTSERV software
on a mainframe computer at the University of California at Berkeley. An
e-mail message sent to the list is distributed to all the list's
subscribers, who receive the message as regular Internet e-mail.
Individual replies to the message are also distributed to all the
subscribers.
HOW TO SUBSCRIBE
Send a message of the form
subscribe vocnet firstname lastname
to LISTSERV@UCBCMSA (for BITNET users) or to LISTSERV@cmsa.berkeley.edu
(for Internet users).
For example, Jane Doe, wishing to subscribe to VOCNET from an Internet
e-mail address, would send the following message to
LISTSERV@cmsa.berkeley.edu:
subscribe vocnet Jane Doe
Even subscribers who plan to just "lurk" for now should send a start-up
item to the list, providing a few lines about themselves, their
interests, and what topics they would like to discuss.
HOW TO SEND A MESSAGE
To send a message from a BITNET e-mail address, send mail to
VOCNET@UCBCMSA; to send a message from Internet, send mail to
VOCNET@cmsa.berkeley.edu.
For example, a user wishing to send a message to VOCNET from BITNET
would address the message to:
VOCNET@UCBCMSA
A user sending a message from Internet would address the message to:
