Can anyone help identify what is probably a local name (possibly Oklahoma
area) for an animal - FIRECAT? It appears in a piece by Wallace Stevens
and another by Hart Crane, but has hardly any clues as to what it is,
apart from the fact that it "slunk away" after pebbles were thrown at it.
Dictionaries and zoo here have not provided anything. A friend in Italy
translating something has asked us to find out. Would appreciate any
explanation, or if someone is near the Boston Public Library and could
