I have a rather odd request--- some Canadian friends of mine are
putting finishing touches of a Youth Environmental Conference to
be held in Washington, DC in a few weeks (I think the opening
ceremonies are March 24). The conference is going to have a
Native component, but I really don't know the details. The are
hoping to contact an elder in the Washington, DC area who would
be willing to provide a blessing at the opening ceremony. My
friends are committed environmentalists and very respectful of
Native culture, but they are not New Age wanna-bes. If you know
of any DC-area elders that they could contact, please email me at
