Objective
To support scholars who need time to think and write about
topics on the understanding of the human species. Resident
Scholars may approach their research from the perspectives of
anthropology, or from the allied perspectives of history,
sociology, art, law, and philosophy. Both humanistically and
scientifically oriented scholars are encouraged to apply.

Katrin H. Lamon Fellowship
Eligibility
Eligible applicants include Native American scholars who meet
the same criteria as detailed above for Resident Scholars.

Program
Weatherhead Fellowship
Eligibility
Eligible applicants include graduate students who have
completed all requirements for the doctoral degree except the
dissertation at the time of application. Predoctoral
applicants must be nominated by their department or degree-
granting program; only one nomination will be
considered from each such entity.
Tenure and Value
Awards, which have a tenure of up to one year, typically
include a small stipend, housing, and an office.
