This is my first post to this list so bear with me!
An elder of mine here in Columbus has asked me to post this question to you.
It is very important. His name is Kenny Irwin (Director of the Ohio Center for
Native American Affairs, Ohio Indian Movement, Ohio Center for Native American
Burial Rights, etc.) and is from the Fort Berthold Rez. He has heard rumors
from home that there may be a new US Government policy of Termination Tribal
Status to those nations who have become Self supporting or cannot prove
historical connection to the People who were given the original Status. He has
heard there may be a number of tribes at risk. The regional BIA offices are not
saying anything and the People are getting nervous. This could mean the
termination of federal programs on the rez, etc. If anyone has any information
that could help, if such a policy is in the making, who it may affect,
