THE FIRST NATIONS OF ABYA-YALA FILM AND VIDEO FESTIVAL

December 7-20 1994, Quito, Ecuador

This indigenous-organized festival will have two parts: from December
7-15 selected entries will be screened with mobile projection units in 16
indigenous communities throughout Ecuador; film/video makers will be
invited to accompany their work. From December 15-20 all accepted
entries will be screened in Quito; there will also be award ceremonies,
panels and round-table discussions dealing with the politics and
alternatives for indigenous film/video, and workshops on media production
and analysis for indigenous participants.

The Festival Committee seeks works by or about indigenous people of the
Americas. Only work completed in or after 1990 will be considered, but
all formats, genres and lengths are acceptable. Please send entries in
1/2" or 3/4" NTSC video. Submissions must be accompanied by the official
submission form which is available from the festival office in Quito or
the U.S. contact. Non-Spanish language works must include written
transcription or summary in Spanish. DEADLINE: October 31,1994.
