Dear Gary: I have often thanked you, in times past, for your help, and
your understanding. When EVERYTHING was new to me, on the Net, you took
the time to help me to understand, so that I could participate. I feel
that you have put much work into these lists, and I fully understand that
you are now feeling burned-out, perhaps over-burdened, and have a desire
to move on to some new things. You have kept us informed all along,
regarding your plans. Personally, I have appreciated this, as I have
you. Thanks for all the time and effort you have put into these lists,
and for caring personally about people who are learning, and have
questions. I wish you well, in your new endeavors.

Freedom

"Make sure you learn to take care of yourself and learn to find your own
dream in the world. Listen, think about it, make it teach you and in
that way you'll know what it's like to feel good about yourself."
-Maternal Grandmother of R. Carlos Nakai-

[ Thanks to Freedom and to the others who have expressed your thoughts and
feelings about the upcoming transition, which I hope everyone will approve.
Though I may be "moving on," I don't want to lose touch with this community,
but to find new ways to serve it more effectively, as well as being able to
take care of some priorities relating to my own career and personal life.
And, because of the way things are set up, my computer will remain one of
the central components of the NativeNet system, performing a number of
important functions, but in a way that I hope can become fairly automated,
so that I can lessen the need for constant manual intervention.

I hope to use the mailing lists to keep everyone informed of my activities
and to invite you to participate with me in some of the projects that I've
been wanting to get underway for some time, including those I've already
mentioned and a few I've been trying to conceptualize. I'll still be
around, supporting Jay in his handling of NATIVE-L and NATCHAT, and con-
tinuing to moderate the other lists (NAT-EDU, NAT-LANG, and NAT-HLTH) until
appropriate people can be found to handle them. I'll make announcements on
those lists to solicit volunteers and nominations.

Thanks to those who responded a while ago to my earlier indications of
needing help. I've kept track of who you are, and hope to get back to you
soon, as well as putting out additional calls for assistance after drafting
a list of the other areas where I feel people can be helpful.

Thanks again to all of you for your support and encouragement!
