Mary Crow Dog, now going by Mary Brave Bird, is putting out a sequel to
her 1991 American Book Award-winning book (with Richard Erdoes) "Lakota
Woman." "Ohitika Woman" is due out from HarperPerennial (a division of
HarperCollins) on Sept. 14, 1994.
I have learned that there has in the past been some discussion on
nativenet about controversey regarding Ms. Brave Bird's credibility.
However there is only one post from 1993 available in the archive, and it
was rather confused (and the author is no longer accessible on the net).
Can anyone shed some light on acceptance/rejection in the native
community of Ms. Brave Bird and her record? She looks pretty credible to
me, but what do I know. I'll be interviewing her Sept. 15th in the
course of her book tour, as she visits Albuquerque.
p.s.: The new book is also co-authored with Erdoes. At the same
time, HarperPerennial is also reissuing _Lakota Woman_.
