Subject: Volunteer Positions
A collegue of mine and I are looking for volunteer positions in the
Native American community for this coming summer. We work for the State
University Of New York system, and both have been in the Higher Education
business for a while. We are on ten month contracts and would like to spend the
summer volunteering our time. All we ask is some sort of roof to sleep under.
I have a Master's degree in counseling with a specialization in student
personnel, and have been working with college aged populations since 1986. My
Grandfather was Cherokee and raisee me for the better part of my life.
My friend Craig Elliott has a Master's in Educational Psychology, and
has been in the Higher Ed field for some time as well. He's a pure bred
Californian, and he has a good heart and mind.
I hear there are lots of opportunities for volunteer work, but I have
not seen any type of clearing house or source for inofrmation.
If anyone out there knows of folks with a need for some help who could
offer a place for us to sleep, we would foot the rest of our costs, and would do
the kind of work most needed by the community.
