Dear E.N.A. Bear -
(I hope that that you or the rest of the list don't construe this as
advertising and as such an inappropriate post. I would have responded
privately to your question, but no direct address was given.)

I don't have a list of publications on Native art, but I can recommend
one book on contemporary artists, if that's what you're looking for -
I Stand in the Center of the Good edited by Lawrence Abbott -
interviews with 17 contemporary artists including Michael Kabotie (Hopi),
Frank LaPena (Nomtipom Wintu), Jaune Quick-to-See Smith(Flathead-Cree-
Shoshone), and Emmi Whitehorse (Navajo), with color illustrations of each
artist's work. Price $40. We just published it this summer - it was
shown in Santa Fe during Indian Market in August and may still be available
there, or from bookstores in your area, or directly from us at 1-800-755-1105.

Because we regularly publish books by and about Native folks, we are
constantly on the look-out for Native art to use on the book covers.
I will be interested to see what other subscribers have to say
about other art reference works.
