Mt. Shasta

I'd just like to add a note of encouragement to anyone listening to
drop a note to the Keeper of the National Historic Register to save
the Mt. Shasta area from development. I know it takes a lot of time and
a little $ to keep those cards and letters flowing, but if people such as are
on this mail list don't let the government know that there ARE people out
there who respect nature and cutural traditions more than money, who will?
I'm not the soapbox- or push-people-into-action type (I don't like being
pushed, either), but I get pissed as ____ that whenever it's a case of
profits vs. nature/heritage, $$ ALWAYS wins; it would do my heart good to
see the developers/politicians thwarted once in a while.
Having said that, I'll have to admit that I have (gently) encouraged
(not pushed) 2 relatives to write letters. It didn't take much effort---
they're nature-people, too. Since we've all got friends and relatives,
it shouldn't be too tough to overcome a trifling 400 or so letters....
Best regards,
Tom B.
