PNG RAINFOREST CAMPAIGN INTERNET ARCHIVES
Anonymous FTP access to 100s of PNG Rainforest Information Pieces
Brought to you by
Ecological Enterprises' Rainforest Networking Project

For the past five years, Glen Barry, currently the Director of
Ecological Enterprises, has been gathering and disseminating
information concerning Papua New Guinea's rainforests,
biodiversity and indigenous environmental actions. This was done
under a number of organizational affiliations.

These archives are now available through the internet on an the
University of Wisconsin, Institute of Environmental Studies'
anonymous FTP server (address is gaia1.ies.wisc.edu). To access,
interested folks need to have a direct internet connection or
slip/ppp capability, in order to be able to run FTP and Telnet.
To access any of the hundreds of informational pieces available,
all one must do at a dos prompt is type (or click on necessary
icons in Macintosh or Windows FTP programs):

FTP GAIA1.IES.WISC.EDU

For login, reply "anonymous", then giving your email address as
the password. Change to the directory "pngfor" and read the
readme1.txt for more information on how the service works and how
data is presented.

As of 11/5/94, about 25% of the archives is already loaded on
Gaia1. These tend to be the best stories we have; covering the
following topics:

Following completion of the uploading of PNG Rainforest Campaign
archival materials, the following direction is planned for
Ecological Enterprises' Rainforest Networking project:

1. The server will be available through gopher access shortly, as
the gopher software is loaded.

2. Additionally, World Wide Web (WWW) software installation will
make the information available through mosaic.

3. Ecological Enterprises possesses rainforest information
gathered on the internet over the past 5 year period, including
information on Brazil, Canada, Russia, Malaysia's forests. This
information will be made available shortly.

In the meantime, significant material has already been uploaded.
So take a peak, and check back frequently to see the service grow.
