*****Moderation Note*****
Please note although I personally
support all efforts to free Len, this
one included, the NativeNet can be a
conduit for getting info and a petition
out, the NativeNet as an organization
can not lend its name in anyway. This
goes for Len Peltier and any other cause,
we can however be used as the method for
getting things communitcated like in the
sterotype thing, it is not an offical NativeNet
creation, but was created through NativeNet participation.
I just wanted to be sure that we are all clear on this idea.
**************************

As you all are probably aware -- Leonard was implicated in the shooting deaths
of federal agents some time ago, and has been in jail, wrongfully, for many
years. His final appeal is pending, and it is quite possible that if it does
not go through the court successfully this time, he will be in jail for life.
That would be a blow to not only the indigenous community in the U.S., but also
to people everywhere who are involved with a passion in the never-ending
struggle for freedom. Some willing helpers would be greatly appreciated.
If you are able to generate a petition on a computer and have the time to
address it to the appropriate NativeNet channels or other 'net'works, that
effort alone would allow countless people to print out the petition and
thus begin informal (but effective) 'Peltier-freedom' groups which could
copy, distribute, and finally, when the pinned-up petitions fill with
signatures, collect and send them to the appropriate address. I will send
the formal petition statement to this list very quickly, so as to accommodate
the process. Thanks --
