I am Lenape, but my husband is Southern Cheyenne & fairly fluent in his
language. The word for wolf in Cheyenne is hot' neh. I am writing this
phonetically because Cheyenne is not a written language. The Cheyenne word
for black is mokh' tah. Maybe this two would be helpful. By the way, my
husband in Lance Henson who is a well-known poet & activist...he has a book
of bilingual poems (Cheyenne & English) available from the Native American
Distribution Project: 2 Middle Grove Rd, Greenfield Ctr, NY 12833. They
carry only books by Native authors & the book list is extensive. In The
Spirit...Jeanetta Calhoun
