Many thanks to all who responded to my post-- here are the
results of this search:

During the winter session of the Georgia State Assembly in
1993, legislation was passed & signed to be incorporated
into the Georgia Code 44-12-300, specifically recognizing
three communities: the Georgia Tribe of Eastern Cherokee;
the Lower Muskogee Creek Tribe; and the Cherokee of Georgia
Tribal Council. There was no criteria or other verification
process under this legislation, and the Lower Muskogee
organization was denied recognition by the BIA in 1981 (the
other two organizations have filed Letters of Intent to
Petition with the BIA's Bureau of Acknowledgement and
Recognition).

Thanks again for everyone's assistance!
