The University of Denver offers a Masters Degree in American Indian Studies
through their liberal arts program. There are scholarships available for those
who qualify. Courses cover historical context, traditional values systems,
tribal sovereignty, contemporary literature, etc., This program was developed
by an American Indian advisory panel including Lucille Echohawk(Associate
Director Council of Energy Resource Tribes), Dr. James R. Moran(DU graduate
school of Social Work), Suzanne Benally (Western Interstate Commission for
Higher Education)and Jan Jacobs(Associate Dean of Education/Adjunct Curator
Denver Art Museum) among others. Whenever possible courses are taught by
American Indian instructors.
