This is Molly Ashcraft, a freshman at the University of Montana. I am
writing a research paper on how our present system of enrollment will
effect our people in years to come. This issue has not hit the press
yet. I'm having a hard time finding any material about the modern
issues.
The issues I am concerned with right now are history, qualifications,
benefits, loss of tribal recognition, problems with children of many
tribes and their lineage, educational benefits, membership fraud,
government control over enrollment, and the concerns of tribal members
about the "thinning" of our blood lines. Any opinions, facts, anecdotes,
news article or stories you might want to share with me are more than
welcome. This issue is of great personal importance to me as well as an
academic venture. I'd like to here what you have to say.
