ONE BOOK I WOULD RECOMMEND IS: Paula Gunn Allen, The Sacred Hoop:
Recovering the Feminine in American Indian Traditions (Boston: Beacon
Press, 1986)

You might look at other work by Allen--I find her writing makes you
think and goes beyond the usual verbage about Indians. You might
also want to check out Rayna Green's, That's What She Said:
Contemporary Poetry and Fiction by Native American Women
(Bloomington: Indiana University Press, 1984)
