Resources on Native Women

Amy Schutt requested resources on native women. I have sent a number of
book suggestions but now have a video which is first rate. It is a
National Film Board of Canada (Montreal) production in VHS format and 56
minutes long. It was written by Christine Welsh and directed by Norma
Bailey. The title is Women in the Shadows. It is Welsh's search for her
M M etis grandmother, a search which took her to York Factory on Hudson's
Bay. YF was the staging location for the Hudson's Bay Company fur quest
in Canada which began in the late 1670's. This production is beautifully
filmed, the dialogue is absolutely captivating. Laurie Milne
