American Indian Language Development Institute
The University of Arizona, Tucson, June 5 - June 30, 1995
1995 Theme:
Tradition and Technology: Weaving the Future of Indigenous Languages

The University of Arizona, College of Education and American Indian
Studies, will host the 1995 American Indian Language Development Institute
(AILDI). Offering 6 graduate or undergraduate credit hours, the AILDI
involves linguists, tribal elders, bilingual/ESL specialists, teachers,
aides and school administrators in an integrated, holistic learning
experience. All courses lead toward regular degree programs and toward
bilingual and ESL endorsements.

the Bilingual Classroom Indian Education

* Math & Science in First & * American Indian Literatures
Second Languages
* Native Languages of North America

COURSES FULFILL GRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMS AND BILINGUAL/ESL REQUIREMENTS.
DEGREE ADVISEMENT IS PROVIDED. FOLLOW-UP ARRANGED FOR ALL CLASSES.

SPECIAL WORKSHOPS & GUEST SPEAKERS: Guest speakers and discussion sessions
will focus on the 1995 theme: weaving technology with tradition to promote
indigenous languages and cultures. Join us for an exciting summer program!

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Stipends for housing and expenses are available.

COSTS AND LOCAL ARRANGEMENTS: Approximately $595 tuition for 6 credit
hours; plus additional housing costs ($275-$800); books ($75); and meals
(on your own). Campus housing and privately owned apartments with cooking
and family facilities can be arranged.
